  • The Blacksmiths Compendium   ( 19 Articles )

This is a collection of mailing list postings gleaned primarily from ABANA's "TheForge" mailing list. You could consider this an FAQ, except that it has been organized in a different fashion. Before reading or using any of the material posted here, please read the disclaimer .

Threads of discussion have been pieced together from hundreds of postings and organized into a single document (according to topic). If you find an error or would like to make an addition to the contents of the compendium, please contact the Webmaster through the "Contact" link at the top of each page.

Our thanks and gratitude to the many talented and knowledgeable individuals who have so freely shared this information with the world through the medium of the Internet. Contributors to the forums of "TheForge", "ArtMetal" or similar mailing lists, insure that the metal working crafts, skills and forms of artistic expression will live on into the 21st century.

  • Techniques Archive   ( 29 Articles )

dot_whiteFrom late in 1994 through the end of 1996, I was the editor of the Journal for the Upper Midwest Blacksmiths Association (UMBA) and, more than 10 years later, I still have some of the original files laying around. The Techniques Archive is a collection of these original metal-craft articles, some written by me, some written by my friend Jeff Knight, and some from other folks and ABANA chapter newsletters from around the nation.
