Page 4 of 9 Light the briquettes as you would a backyard barbecue. Let the flames die out and give the briquettes a few minutes to get hot. Do not push any air through the charcoal at this point, as you may blow the coals out and then need to start over. The coals will be glowing around their edges when they are ready for additional air. When the coals look ready to grill on, give them a few moments of a gentle air blast to ensure that they are nice and hot.
