Page 1 of 3 A Demonstration by Robb Gunter at Postville I first had the opportunity to see Mr. Gunter at the 1994 ABANA conference. I specifically put him on my demo list because the topic was "tools from scrap steels." This was a topic of great interest to me and I remembered that this was also the gentleman who invented "super quench." By time the demo was over I would have gladly joined a "Robb Gunter Fan Club." When I heard that Robb was going to be our March demonstrator, I was really excited and couldn't wait to discover what useful info I would take home this time. I wasn't disappointed, and I don't believe anyone else was either. The March meeting had a record attendance, and I believe everyone went home with a head full of new ideas. Quite some feat, really. In his usual self depreciating style, Robb made the hammer and anvil sing in harmony as he showed the attendees one marvel after another. In the course of the one day I was able to attend, and I had to leave before he was finished, Robb showed us how to make a diagonal peen hammer, an iron chili pepper, a "black Macintosh" apple, leaves and eagle feathers. I don't think I have ever seen anyone accomplish so much in the course of one day. I truly wish I had been able to attend the Sunday session, or at least stay to the end of Saturdays, but since it is a 3 hour drive to Postville I did not have that luxury.
