Scrap Iron Clock

After the first success, I decided to stretch a bit further and make another clock. The stem is heavy rebar, forged to a smooth taper and tightly twisted. The large portion of the clock face is a 7 round with the edge burned off via a cutting torch and textured in the same manner as the first clock. The base is a 2 ½ punch-out. I could not decide how to attach the base to the stem. So I decided to arc-weld it into place to save time. Since it would be as much work to hide the weld as forge a tenon and join the base, I decided to incorporate the weld into the design and, using the arc welder, turned the base into a molten pool of metal that was allowed to cool and was then brushed to a shine. The final effect was striking. When completed, the arc few arc welds used in construction were a part of the design and no apparent to the eye. Once again, the clock sold instantly.

After years of trying to get a "round toit" - the Elektric Anvil has been re-integrated into the Celtic Knot. I have closed "ElektricAnvil.net" and am now working on adding new material to the knot.  Come back soon to see what's new at the Celtic Knot.
