Several years ago, I was approached by the Chicago-area company Uniforms to You about a special commission. They were putting together the costuming for the Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas, and they need some special buckles made. I met with the designer and we discussed several ideas and designs. The result of that meeting was a collection of buckles, the largest of which you see here. This very large buckle was five inches square, nearly a quarter of an inch thick and featured copperplate scroll work etched into the brass. It was intended for the Captain Kidd pirate doorman.
