Much to my chagrin, the vast majority of the gallery images have become corrupted. Oh, and my backups are corrupted as well...

I guess that means it is time to rethink, retool and recreate "The Gallery." So, here is the beginnings of the new and improved gallery which I hope to restore to its "pre-corruption" glory as soon as possible.

This "new" gallery replaces the previous "Photomaniac" java applet with the "Easy Gallery" component for Joomla and features a java pop-up to view the full sized image, if desired.

Please direct all questions, comments and complaints to me via the contact form. You can find the "contact" link at the top of each page.

Thank you for visiting the Celtic Knot Gallery

4 Candle Candelabra Artistic Endeavors

This section contains examples of my explorations into the texture and plasticity of iron. I like combining iron and glass in a manner that highlights the texture and fluidity of both materials. I am not, by training, an abstract thinker. So, I model much of this work after objects in nature that I can see and touch.

Fang - A Cable Damascus Dagger Bladesmithing

My first love was bladesmithing. It is what drew me into the metalsmtihs craft from the start. Over the years I have made quite a fiew pieces, sold most of them and photographed too few of them. As I unearth the photos I have I will put them here with the others I have managed to hang onto. If you are interested in knifemaking, check out my instruction video, "To Create A Blade, A Beginners Guide To Knifemaking." More than a decade after producing it I still think it is one of the most complete and imformative instruction videos on the topic. But then again, I might be a little bit biased...

Coffee Table Furniture

I have, to date, produced about six pieces of iron and glass furniture. The number of requests I receive for this type of work is increasing, but I do not envision myself as a furniture maker. Tables are surprisingly difficult to execute correctly. A three legged table will always stand solidly, but add the fourth leg and precision becomes rather important.
I have not yet decided on a style I like. I have so many ideas I want to explore that I hope, someday, to blur the distinction between my furniture pieces and my artistic endeavors.

100_2301.jpg Kitchen Remodel

In 2006, after a LOT of planning, I gutted the west end of the first floor of my home and built the kitchen we have wanted for years. I did most of the work myself, but received some really needed help from:

  • My family, including my wife, brother-inlaw, mother-inlaw and my mom
  • My buddy Jeff with his vast electrical expertise
  • Chris and Mike, who helped with the floor and insulation
  • My neighbor John, who helped lift the beam into place
  • A few pros I hired to do the mudding and install the new windows
  • And most importanly of all, Phil, without whos help this would NOT have been finished as quickly as it was!

Scrap Iron Clock Miscellaneous Iron Work

This "Miscellaneous" section contains those items that I could not figure out where to put. There are always those items which fall through the proverbial cracks.

Courting Candle Housewares

The "Housewares" category has become a catch-all for everything from curtain rods and door knockers to candleholders. Most of my work is produced for use in the home. As a result, this section contains the largest and most varied examples of my work.

Appalachia Service Project ASP

Every couple of years I try to volunteer a week with the Appalachian Service Project  (ASP).  If you ever need to donate some time, this is a great group to do it with.  The ASP tries to protect the identity of the families they assist, so I have not listed the family names in any of the photos.  If you would like to know more about these trips, check the "tales from the knot" section where I have posted some post-trip blogs.

Thank you for visiting the ASP Gallery.
